Hello all, it's been a minute. We sorta abandoned this blog long ago and had the page hidden from the main menu. It seems like google searches were still directing people here though, so we figured it deserved a little bit of attention.

If you are a canyoneer, interested in exploring South Korea, and you've ended up here - we reckon we are currently the best source of info for canyoning over here.

In fact, we have a guidebook - which you can look at for free. Just get in touch via email and after some introductions, we can drop you a link.

A quick note on access in 2025.

It seems like the Korea National Park Service is twitchier than ever. Seoraksan, in particular, is our favourite place for canyoning in South Korea but we are back to giving it a wide berth. Now, we have 0 respect for the KNPS as any kind of authority on environmental protection or informed risk assessment (I could go on at length here but I have kinda burned myself out on the subject), but... they can stick you with some hefty fines - so ignore them at your peril.

There are other places that are still good and relatively free to access. However, South Korea is on a trajectory of ever increasing restriction and prohibition. More concerning is that public opinion is heavily in favour of it - becoming more and more risk averse.

If you want to know more, we will happily respond to questions from fellow canyoneers.

The above comments are made in reference to recreational canyoneering in South Korea. For guided tours, you need not be concerned with restrictions or barriers to entry.
