Nature Art

We run two or three sessions in collaboration with Matari Forest School each week. Our Tuesday afternoon group return each week, which allows us to build on skills they learn from class to class.

Sometimes though, it is fun to just let them get creative. It helps them bond, which is an essential ingredient for their development in other more demanding activities (climbing and canyoning). We've always believed that creative thinking is a fundamental attribute of any outdoor explorer.

This piece of nature art was created in a playground area on the lower slopes of Gwanak mountain. The children began by laying out the outline of a giant tree, and then built upon this with additional layers of texture and detail. Each leaf was placed individually by the children.
